Ready, Set, Work!
Our Workforce Readiness Volunteers are participating in the following activities:
ü Serving as judges in Future Business Leaders of America district and state competitions, helping high school students develop interviewing, public speaking and decision-making skills. Volunteers also conduct workshops for FBLA students on business-related subjects such as interviewing and financial management.
ü Providing Job Shadowing opportunities for high school students. In conjunction with Junior Achievement of the Hudson Valley, volunteers organize Job Shadow Days at their place of business, giving students a greater understanding of real-life day-to-day responsibilities of business leaders.
ü Serving as Junior Achievement Classroom Volunteers in local elementary schools. Utilizing materials and training provided by Junior Achievement, volunteers bring hands-on business knowledge to young students.
ü Participating in various Career Days in the community, sharing Human Resources career opportunities as well as skills for success in any career.
ü Participating in Big Brother/Big Sister’s School-Based Mentoring Program. Volunteers share one lunch-hour a week with an elementary or middle school student.
