 Member PROFESSIONAL Stipend Program

To serve HR professionals in our area, the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter is proud to offer stipends for members to help defray costs of SHRM related professional development activities. 

Potential recipients would include: 

• HR Professionals who are currently out of work – but continuing to pursue career opportunities in HR.
• Students pursuing undergraduate/graduate programs in Human Resources.
• Recent college graduates pursuing a career in HR with organizations which do not  underwrite their costs of professional membership in SHRM or attendance at meetings and conferences.
• HR professionals, currently working for organizations which do not underwrite their costs of professional membership in SHRM or attendance at meetings and conferences.
  

Members can apply for stipends – up to $250.00 per year – for the following HR professional activities:

·    Attendance at MHV SHRM Chapter meetings or conferences

·    Attendance at SHRM National or NYS SHRM annual Conference

·    Attendance at special SHRM

·    Membership dues for SHRM

The applicant must certify that s/he is not eligible for reimbursement or direct payment of costs covered by the stipend from their employer or other source. The applicant understands and agrees that in exchange for the stipend provided by the MHV SHRM Chapter, s/he will actively participate in and support the Chapter’s activities and initiatives.  Such participation may include, but is not limited to, serving as a Committee leader or active committee member, serving in an Officer position, helping with special projects or initiatives and/or performing other jobs needed by the Chapter.

The Board will also consider past volunteer involvement in the Chapter when assessing stipend requests.

The decision to award a full or partial stipend will be based on a majority vote of the MHV SHRM Elected Board of Directors. 

The Chapter Board will periodically re-evaluate the stipend program and reserves the right to amend or end the program at any time.
