Storm Center: HR’s Role in Business Continuity and Recovery Planning

When weather or other disasters cripple an organization, HR, in coordination with other departments and leaders, can serve as the pivot point to quickly reestablish operations and minimize losses for all stakeholders. Geoff’s study of post-Katrina New Orleans reveals HR’s role in rebuilding their workforces and their organizations.

 

Geoffrey M. Dubinski, MS, CDR, CIR is Chief Talent Scout, Principal & Managing Director of Sumner Grace & Associates. Geoff served as an executive compensation consultant with Towers Perrin and as an executive with one of the largest national staffing firms. He has worked with Fortune 100 companies including GE and Motorola and has spoken at NYS SHRM Conference, The Conference Board, and Chambers of Commerce.

Susan Corcoran is a Partner with Jackson Lewis LLP. An employment litigator, she regularly represents employers in Courts and Administrative Hearings. She also counsels clients and offers training on workplace law, including reductions in force.

 

Eric Felsberg is a Senior Associate with Jackson Lewis LLP. As an expert in Affirmative Action and workplace reductions, Eric regularly defends clients in audits and compliance issues.

David Melby has over 17 years experience in the insurance brokerage field and has particular expertise in the municipal and not-for-profit arenas, whereby collective bargaining is a strong suit. David serves as advisory board member to many insurance companies, assisting in the development of new products, pricing and marketing.

 

Martin Brayboy has over 20 years experience in Group Insurance, first as an Account Executive for Prudential and CIGNA, and then as a Broker Consultant for the last 11 years. Martin specializes in working with multi-site groups. He has implemented many cost management strategies including self-funding, high deductible Medical plans/Health Savings Accounts, Health Reimbursement Arrangements, and wellness initiatives.
