For most organizations today, the business focus has shifted from short-term survival to long-term sustainability. Achieving sustainability will be a true test of HR leadership in the uncertain economy ahead. While managers and HR professionals add coaching skills to their toolbox, findings from neuroscience and NeuroLeadership, which explain behaviors from a brain based perspective, allow us to tailor coaching language, strategies, and goals to align with individual’s “hard-wired” thinking. Understanding how the brain works allows leaders to decrease resistance, disengagement and poor performance while increasing creativity, engagement, and improved performance. Susan will share a few simple but powerful coaching models based on current research from neuroscience and NeuroLeadership that participants can immediately use in their organizations to facilitate positive change.

Presenters
Sandy L. Boost, SPHR, CAEis Business Manager, Member Services Division of the Society for Human Resources Management. She joined the Member Relations Team at SHRM in April, 1995 after more than 15 years as a human resource practitioner. Her most recent position was as Director of Comp. & Benefits for St. Joseph Hospital & Health Center in Lorain, OH. In April, 2005, Sandy accepted the position of Business Manager for the Member Services Division. She holds a BBA and MBA degrees from the Univ. of Toledo.
Geoffrey M. Dubiski, MS, CDR, CIR is the Chief Talent Scout and Managing Director of Sumner Grace and Associates. Geoff’s experience spans public and private sector work having supported Fortune 100 Companies including GE, Scientific-Atlanta, Ingersoll-Rand, Monsanto/Searle and Motorola. He has presented at numerous SHRM conferences including NYS SHRM, SHRM (National) Staffing and Management Conference and a SHRM Annual Conference in addition to being a highly rated presenter at past MHVSHRM Conferences.
Susan M. Hahn, PCC,is Founder & President of Swan Consulting Group, Inc. As an executive coach, workplace mediator, and trainer, Susan works with diverse organizations throughout the U.S., Europe, and Canada. Susan was trained by David Rock in the brain based coaching model, which she now teaches to others. She serves as Coach Training Consultant for the NeuroLeadership Group. In addition to her strong business background, having served for 23 years in executive positions, Susan is a licensed psychotherapist.
Patricia Harmon, Ph.D.is author of The Mind of an Innovator: A Guide to Seeing Possibilities Where None Existed Before. Pat has designed and conducted advanced thinking workshops for global organizations such as American Standard, Estee Lauder, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., Motorola and the New York Times. She works with executives to help form their strategic direction while using innovative thinking methodologies, biomimicry and eco-sustainability. Pat holds an MBA from the Univ. of Toronto Executive Program, an MA in Human Development and a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Development from The Fielding Graduate Institute.
